- Tracera has appointed co-founder and chief technology officer Sandeep Chand as chief executive officer.
- The sustainability data platform tracks 4.6 billion kWh of energy data annually, with 92% of clients using it each month.
- Every Tracera client that has pursued limited assurance has achieved it, a key result as sustainability disclosures face greater scrutiny.
Leadership change puts data assurance at the centre
Tracera has named co-founder Sandeep Chand as chief executive officer, placing the architect of its technology platform in charge of the wider business.
Chand moves into the role after serving as chief technology officer. Since Tracera’s earliest days, he has led its product and engineering strategy. His appointment aligns the company’s leadership with a growing corporate requirement: sustainability data must support decisions while also surviving audit and assurance processes.
The platform connects reported values to their original source documents. It also identifies missing information and follows up automatically. Its dashboard is designed to answer a question frequently raised by boards and executive teams: Are we on track?
“Sustainability teams don’t struggle because they lack data. They struggle because verifying it, chasing gaps and turning it into decisions burns hours they should be spending on the business. We built Tracera to break that cycle.” Sandeep Chand, CEO
Expansion follows $12 million funding round
Chand takes the top role during a period of growth for Tracera. The company raised a $12 million Series A in April 2025. Foundry led the round, with participation from Rho Ignition, Tola Capital and Contour Venture Partners.
Since then, Tracera has expanded the volume of information managed through its platform. It now tracks 4.6 billion kWh of energy data each year. The company also reports that 92% of its clients actively use the platform every month.
Those figures point to a broader change in the sustainability software market. Businesses increasingly need systems that employees use throughout the reporting cycle, rather than tools reserved for annual disclosure exercises.
Tracera said every client that has pursued limited assurance has achieved it. That result is commercially relevant as companies prepare sustainability disclosures for review by auditors, regulators, lenders and investors.
Assurance readiness depends on more than collecting emissions or energy figures. Companies must be able to explain where each figure came from, how it was calculated and who approved it. Weak documentation can increase audit costs, delay reporting and expose boards to questions about oversight.

Chand sets out his priorities
Announcing the appointment on LinkedIn, Chand said: “ Exciting news: I’ve stepped into the role of CEO at Tracera. As co-founder and CTO, I’ve led our product and engineering from the company’s earliest days, and the conviction behind the work hasn’t changed. 1 Sustainability teams shouldn’t burn hours verifying data and chasing gaps. 2 Every value should trace back to its source. 3 Missing data should chase itself. 4 The dashboard should answer the question every board asks: Are we on track? At its core, my job as CEO remains the same: Make proof effortless for our customers. Now our whole company is organized around it. I’m so grateful to our team, our customers and our investors for everything we’ve built so far. The best part is how much growth is still ahead.”
His comments position traceability and automation as the company’s central operating priorities. They also reflect pressure on sustainability teams to spend less time reconciling spreadsheets and more time advising the business.
What executives and investors should watch
For C-suite leaders, the appointment highlights the expanding governance role of sustainability data infrastructure. Reporting systems increasingly affect capital allocation, regulatory compliance and the credibility of public climate commitments.
Investors will be watching whether Tracera can convert its funding, usage rates and assurance record into sustained commercial growth. Clients will focus on whether the platform can maintain reliable evidence trails as datasets and reporting obligations become more complex.
The wider relevance extends beyond one leadership change. Across global markets, sustainability reporting is moving closer to financial-reporting disciplines. Platforms that make corporate environmental data verifiable, usable and board-ready are likely to become a more important part of governance and risk management.
